• The IDP Smart 51 is a direct-to-card (DTC) printer. Being a DTC ID card printer means that it's best suited to printing simple card designs that don't go over or to the edge of a card.
• It is not recommended to use DTC (Direct-to-Card) printers for printing on access control cards. This is because access control cards have an uneven surface that can cause damage to the printer and its print head. If a DTC printer is used to print on an access control card, the result will likely feature design blemishes on the card.
